This man claimed to have "a whip" and tried to rob a Bradenton 7-Eleven, deputies say.

Deputies are searching for a man who claimed to have "a whip" and demanded a Manatee County convenience store give him "the cheese."

The clerk told deputies he believed that meant the man was carrying a gun.

The clerk says he then pushed the emergency button, and the suspect fled.

The suspect is 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-8, 120 pounds, with short twisty hair. He was thin and had an "outie" belly button. He was wearing a black T-shirt inside-out and pulled over his face, purple boxers, silver basketball shorts and black socks with slides.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
