Medic: 1 person dead after shooting in west Charlotte

Officials said one person was pronounced dead by Medic paramedics following a shooting along Avalon Avenue.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is dead following a shooting in west Charlotte Thursday evening, Medic tweeted.

The paramedic agency confirmed the deadly shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Thursday along Avalon Avenue, near the Enderly Park neighborhood.

Officials said one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Friday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified the victim as 26-year-old Daquarius Malik Jackson, saying his family was notified of his death.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information can call a CMPD homicide detective at 705-432-TIPS. Anonymous tips can be shared online with Crime Stoppers or by calling 704-334-1600.
