Record Breaking Drug Bust In Surry County: Sheriff

Four kilos of methamphetamine were seized with an estimated street value of $408,200.00

MOUNT AIRY, NC (WFMY) -- According to the Surry County Sheriff’s Office, officers seized four kilos of methamphetamine with a street value of $408,200.00 at a residence in the 2000 block of Red Brush Road in Mount Airy, NC.

The bust resulted in a historical narcotics seizure for the Surry County Sheriff's Office.

The warrant to search the home was executed Monday, June 4, 2018.

Upon gaining entry into the home, officers found David Worth Steele,54, and Lisa Johnson Wolford, 56.

This was the fourth time in a little over two years officers served a search warrant at the home.

Upon searching the home, narcotics investigators seized the following:

  • Four kilos of Methamphetamine that weighed 4,082 grams (9.2 pounds). Street value of Methamphetamine is $100 per gram making the street value of this seizure worth $408,200.00.
  • 900 dosage units of what is believed to be counterfeit 30mg Roxy’s or Roxicodone believed to be laced with Fentanyl. Street value of $1.00 a mg making the street value of this seizure worth $27,000.00.
  • 17 dosage units of 20mg Oxycodone pills with a street value of $1.00 a mg making the street value of this seizure worth $340.00.
  • 18 dosage units of 1mg Alprazolam Pills a street value of $5.00 a mg making the street value of this seizure worth $90.00.
  • Six dosage units of 10mg Hydrocodone pills with a street value of $1.00 a mg making the street value of this seizure worth $60.00.
  • 18 dosage units of 2mg Clonazepam pills with a street value of $1.00 a mg making the street value of this seizure worth $36.00.
  • 33 grams of Marijuana with a street value of $660.00.
  • 17 Firearms
  • Miscellaneous Drug Paraphernalia
  • $6,300.00 in U.S Currency

Steele received a $2,015,500.00 secured bond and was charged with

  • 2 counts of Felony Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • 2 counts of Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin
  • 1 count of Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell and Deliver Marijuana
  • 1 count of Felony Maintaining a Drug Dwelling.

Wolford received a $2,000,000.00 secured bond and was charged with the following

  • 2 counts of Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • 2 counts of Trafficking Opium or Heroin
