Robbery Suspect Asked for Change, Forced Way Into Winston-Salem Home: Police

Police say an armed man who forced his way inside a house, after asking for change, assaulted a man inside with the gun during a struggle.

Police are searching for an attempted robbery suspect who attacked people in a Winston-Salem house. 

The investigation started after officers responded to a shooting call in 2700 block of Country Club Road, around 10:44 p.m. Friday, a police report states. 

Three people at the home told police someone knocked on their door asking for change and then forced his way inside. He then tried to rob them. They told officers a man inside the house grabbed the suspect's gun and struggled with him. During the struggle, the gun went off.

The suspect then hit the man with the gun several times on the head. He then ran away from the house.

No one was shot when the gun discharged, investigators confirm. 

The man who was beaten with the gun was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment and has since been released. 

The investigation is ongoing.
