City employees who are fully vaccinated will receive a $250 bonus.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Salisbury City employees will now get paid to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

City council approved the incentives during their meeting Tuesday night. City employees who get fully vaccinated will get $250 at first. The money is coming from funding from the American Rescue Plan, the city said.

Depending on their position and length of employment, some workers could also get a bonus of up to $3,500. That will depend on how long their service was through the pandemic. It also depends on if they worked full-time through the pandemic and were considered either an essential and critical worker or essential and non-critical employee. Additionally, part-time employees could get up to $1,500.
