How WFMY News 2 Brought the Apollo 11 Launch into Triad Homes 50 Years Ago

It was part of our nation's history, but it was also part of our WFMY News 2 history.

When Apollo 11 lifted off, WFMY News 2 crews were there.

We found the scripts from that day 50 years ago.

Channel 2 newsman Dave Wright and cameraman Bill Gordon covered the launch and other activities at Cape Kennedy.

Their report consisted of the video you see in this article, and the words describing not only the launch, but the crowds -- either they didn't go to work because they wanted to see the historic moment, or they couldn't get to work because of the mobs of people.

It's a report and a script 50 years old...but it makes you feel as if you were there.

It's part of our nation's history, part of our WFMY history, and it stands the test of time.
