KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Forsyth County Animal Control has launched an investigation after a pet dog was found dead in Kernersville. On Friday, the cause of death had still not been officially released as officials waited for the results of a necropsy.

On Tuesday, the dog was found dead on Ridgestone Lane in Kernersville, according to Lt. David Morris with Forsyth County Animal Control.

The Australian Cattle Dog was someone’s pet, said Morris.

The animal was sent for a necropsy to determine its cause of death.

As of Friday afternoon, animal control investigators were still waiting for the examiner’s report, according to Morris.

Investigators will then make their next move in the case once the cause of death has been discovered.

Morris could not comment further on the case, citing the ongoing investigation.
