WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--- An early morning fire left 13 people without a place to call home Saturday and police say the fire is suspicious.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said they got a call about a break-in at the Salem Garden Apartment Complex on Salem Garden Drive, just after 6:30am. When officers arrived on the scene they saw flames coming from the building. Crews safely evacuated people from the complex.
Firefighters determined the apartment unit that was burning was empty.
Officers took over the investigation of the fire and determined it to be suspicious.
