Drowsy Driving Is No Joke, Use This Checklist To Stay Safe And Awake

It's deeper than just getting 7 hours of sleep...

We all know driving while sleepy is dangerous. But according to a recent survey by AAA almost a third of drivers have driven drowsy in the past month. AAA also found that almost 10% of crashes were caused by sleepy drivers.

To avoid this, take a close look at your medications. Some might cause fatigue when combined with others. Your doctor might be able to adjust what you take.

While you're talking to your doctor, ask about your tiredness. If you're getting at least 7 hours of sleep but you're still tired during the day, wake up repeatedly, or you snore, you might need a sleep disorder screening.

Finally, know when it's time to take a break. Experts say even the most alert drivers should take a break every 2 hours.
