GREENSBORO, N.C. — As the shutdown keeps going, 2 Wants To Know which of your lawmakers are still getting paid. Their paycheck is guaranteed in the Constitution reading, "the Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by law and paid out of the Treasury of the United States." But some of your lawmakers have said 'no don't pay me during the shutdown.'
2 Wants To Know reached out to all of the Congressmen rom the Triad. A spokeswoman for Represenative Virgina Foxx sent us a letter she signed to have her pay waived during the shutdown. And Represenative Mark Walker tweeted a photo of him signing a similar letter, saying in part: "As long as these brave men and women are forced to work without a paycheck, I will be refusing mine as well."
Again, we asked every one of your members of Congress if they planed to take their pay during the shutdown. We're still waiting to hear back from Representative Ted Budd and Senators Richard Burr and Thom Tillis.
