GREENSBORO, N.C. — Food insecurity is the term used to describe when people have a disruption of food intake due to financial issues. And its presence is being felt in North Carolina.
Feeding America released a report on the problem across the country. North Carolina ranked toward the bottom with 15% of our population being food insecure. 1 in 7 people in our state struggle with hunger and 1 in 5 children struggle with it.
So to help your neighbors or you, here's what we're doing. We're partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank for a one-day food drive on Monday. We'll be at the food lion on Hicone road in Greensboro.
If you don’t think you’ll be able to make it. Here's a solution. Donate by texting “secondharvest” to 50155. If you would normally spend 5 bucks at the store, text second harvest that 5 dollars.
But if you can donate in person, we’d love to see you this Monday.
