How To Get On That TSA PreCheck Line

You can cut through those airport lines with TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.

No one is immune to travel headaches. Some of our bosses had to drive up to our corporate office in Washington D.C. this week after their flight was canceled.

Even without cancellations, there are all kinds of potential delays while in line. Airlines recommend getting to the airport two hours before a domestic flight. But TSA PreCheck and Global Entry can help you cut through those lines.

PreCheck allows you to go through security faster for domestic flights. You must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident to apply for the program. Once you apply online you'll then interview at an enrollment center. You'll need proof of your identity and citizenship so a passport or a real ID can work.
It costs 85 dollars for a 5-year membership. Click this link to find the nearest enrollment center.

Global entry does the same thing for international flights. Their fee is 100 dollars. Just like PreCheck, you'll apply online and interview at an enrollment center. The nearest enrollment center for Global Entry is at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

If you don't want to pay for the convenience, some credit cards and loyalty programs offer to cover the cost of the fees or let customers use reward points to pay for it. Bank of America's Premium Rewards Credit Card, United MileagePlus, and the Capital One Venture Card
