No Longer On Hold: WFMY News 2 Helps Triad Man Get Spectrum Deal He Was Offered

The offer was cable and internet service for $39.99 a month. The Spectrum representative he talked to said they could not find the deal.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — It arrived only a couple weeks before he was planning to move. The timing could not have been any better. The offer so good, the timing so perfect he called the next day, “It was a great deal,” said Burlow.

The offer was from Spectrum and offered cable and internet service for $39.99 a month. Burlow needed new service for the home he was moving into so he called to sign up, “I was told I couldn’t get the deal at the home I was moving too,” said Burlow.

Not wanting to shop around he signed up for service with Spectrum but at a higher rate than the flyer that arrived in his mailbox. A couple days later he received the same offer on a flyer at his new home, “I called and asked if I could get the deal,” said Burlow.

The Spectrum representative he talked to said they could not find the deal he was talking about and could not offer the discounted option. Burlow called several different people at Spectrum but was always told the same thing, the deal he received in the mail was not available in his area,” They kept telling me they weren’t seeing the offer at my address,” said Burlow.

He even went to the Spectrum store without any luck. A representative unable to find the deal in the system under his address and Spectrum was not able or willing to offer him the same rate even after showing a manager the flyer with the price offer.

Burlow reached out to WFMY News 2 in hopes we could help sort the matter out. We reached out to Spectrum but did not immediately hear back. We then went with Burlow to a local Spectrum store to talk with a representative about Burlow’s case.

The person we talked with at the store declined to speak with us in detail or allow us to listen when they spoke with Burlow. We were directed to a Spectrum spokesperson who did return our call within a couple days.

The spokesperson told us he would investigate the matter and get back to us soon. True to his word he reached back to us a couple days later and acknowledged the flyer was sent inadvertently to Burlow’s home. He also told us that Spectrum would honor the original offer and refund Burlow for any previous charges, “If it hadn’t been for (News 2) II don’t think any of this would have happened so I do appreciate that and go News 2,” said Burlow.

Spectrum declined our request for an interview and chose not to release a statement either. The spokesperson only willing to speak with us on the phone to let us know the issue has been resolved.
