You Can Get Anything ON Amazon, Even A NC Christmas Trees

Instead of buying a Christmas tree at Lowe's or Walmart - or going out to chop one down ourselves - we decided to buy a real one online to see if it's worth the money.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Many of us in the Triad might make an annual trip to the mountains to pick out our perfect Christmas trees and bring them home.

But it's not always that easy if you live further away - until now.

Our sister station KHOU in Texas bought a REAL North Carolina Christmas tree ONLINE. They ordered a 6-7 foot real Fraser Fir from Amazon to see if it was really worth it.

The tree arrived in a long, skinny box. It was very fresh and fragrant. Somewhere along the way, the top branch broke off but other than that, it was in great shape.

On average, Amazon says it takes about a week to be delivered but it depends on where you live. Unfortunately, our shipment was delayed. It took 15 days from the time we ordered the tree to day of delivery.

Prices vary depending on size and type of tree but with tax, we paid $119.06.

Unfortunately, Amazon has sold out of full-sized trees since we ordered one. If you’re considering ordering one next year, your best bet is to pre-order. Amazon started taking orders in October.

We shot the story at the Salvation Army’s Santa’s Secret Christmas warehouse and decided to leave the tree for the employees to enjoy!

If you’d like to help the Salvation Army, here are a few ways you can donate. To give money, visit www.salvationarmyhouston.org.

If you’d like to drop off toys, take them to any Salvation Army Houston Corps Community Centers or the Santa’s Secret Warehouse at 1398 Salford Dr. Houston, TX. 77008.

You can also order from Salvation Army Houston’s Amazon list, and have it delivered to warehouse.
