Your Key Fob Is Dead? Maybe It's Because You Did This....

The battery in your key fob may not last 2 years if you keep the fob in or near your vehicle all the time.

You know your car needs  regular maintenance-- oil changes, tire rotation.
But your key fob? That's not usually on the maintenance list.

Consumer Reports has a few tricks on how to maintain those key fobs.

"A battery typically weakens after a year or two. Where you store your key fob also matters," explains Mike Quincy, Consumer Reports Cars Editor. So those batteries may not last 2 years if you keep them in or near your car. When it stays close -- it will often stay connected to your car and therefore drain the battery.

No need to pay someone to change the battery, check your car manual to figure out how to replace it.
