CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A robbery at an east Charlotte Mormon church putting members on alert tonight.

Trailers worth about $5,000 were stolen from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

“You feel a little violated,” said Elder Dewey.

“The trailer had been stolen from the back of our pickup truck.”

That trailer, worth $5,000, was filled with furniture valued at $15,000.

“The furniture that was in the trailer goes to helping furnish the apartments of our missionaries.”

Crooks also stole a trailer from contractors hired to lay new tile at the church.

“It’s pretty low to steal anyway but to steal from a church,” said Blake Dawson as he shook his head in disbelief.

“It’ll set us back a day or two, I think the worst thing is now you got to go find the equipment.”

So far, no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made.
