Additional Suspects Arrested In Connection With Alamance Co. Crime Ring

Continuous investigations into the Williams Crime Organization revealed that after David Wendale Williams was arrested on July 12, 2018, he is still managing the organization from jail.

BURLINGTON, NC (WFMY) - Update: Continuous investigations into the Williams Crime Organization revealed that upon David Wendale Williams being arrested on July 12, 2018, Wendale is still managing the criminal organization from jail.

As a result, Johnny Clark Jr., 28, was arrested Wednesday, August 01, 2018 in Burlington.

Clark Jr. was charged with: Continuing Criminal Enterprise, Exploitation of an Elderly/Disabled Person, Extortion, and Identity Theft.

He received a $400,000.00 secured bond.

Additionally, Nathaniel Gary turned himself into the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office on July 21, 2018 and received a $32,500.00 secured bond.

Sherie Marie Thompson also turned herself into the Burlington Police Department on July 19, 2018 and received a $1,000.00 secured bond.

It was previously reported that Six people were arrested and two more were wanted in connection with an Alamance County crime ring led by a Burlington man who received more than 30 felony charges.

33-year-old David Williams was leading a criminal organization according to Burlington police, who began investigating Williams in January along with the ATF.

Authorities found seven people worked with Williams in committing crimes.

A litany of crimes committed by those in the ring included fraud, drug trafficking, illegal firearm sales, extortion, residential breaking and entering, larceny of firearms, larceny of motor vehicles, extortion, and violent crimes involving firearms.

After an extensive investigation, officers seized nine cars, nine guns and a 'trafficking amount' of crack/cocaine and ecstasy. Four of the guns were reported as stolen through breaking and entering cases and four of the cars were reported stolen through title fraud and/or extortion.

Williams was arrested in Burlington on Thursday and was given a $1 million bond for 31 felony charges. Others arrested were:

  • Tracy Deangelo Compton
  • Mario Lynndale Williams
  • Khalid Gwynn
  • Debra Regina Gillom
  • Laquashia Haynes

Three others from Burlington wanted in the investigation are:

  • Sherie Marie Thompson
  • Nathaniel Gary
