Since taking up the position in December, under Sheriff Rogers, the Guilford County Sheriff's Office terminated 34 employees. Half of those are what Public Information Officer Max Benbassat calls "retiree callbacks" - people who retired from the Sheriff's Office, then went back a month later to work at half their previous salary, while accepting benefits. The other half includes employees who either retired or resigned, as well as those who were laid off.
