Alamance Co. Toddler Passed Out at Street Festival; Man Facing Charges

Investigators say the child was taken during an encounter at the mother's house in the Green Level community near Haw River.

BURLINGTON, NC (WFMY) - New information about the disappearance of an Alamance County one-year-old surfaced Sunday afternoon.

The Alamance County Sheriff's Office says the child, Brayden Thomas Wimbish, and the suspect, Michael Brandon Williams, were taken to UNC Hospital after the child passed out at a street festival in Graham. At the hospital, Investigators said the child appeared fine although the official status is not known.

An Amber Alert for Wimbish was canceled and Williams, 30, is in custody.

Deputies received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 5:45 p.m. Saturday regarding a possible child abduction. The caller indicated her ex-boyfriend, Williams, had taken her child against her will.

Investigators say the child was taken during an encounter at the mother's house in the Green Level community near Haw River.

Investigators immediately requested the NC Center for Missing Persons to issue an Amber Alert.

Just before 9, investigators received notification from UNC Hospital Police that a small child had been brought to the Emergency Department for an unknown medical reason. The child was accompanied by a black male, matching the description of Williams.

Williams is facing charges of First Degree Kidnapping. Williams was booked into the Alamance County Detention Center at 12:45 a.m. He's still in custody as of 4 p.m. Sunday.
