AMBER ALERT CANCELED | Emma Kennedy Safe, Carl Kennedy In Custody: Police

Carl Ray Kennedy was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of abducting his daughter in Danville, Va.

DANVILLE, VA. (WFMY) - Carl Ray Kennedy was arrested in Randleman Tuesday and Emma Grace Kennedy has been found safe according to Danville police. The Amber Alert has been canceled.

They say Emma Grace Kennedy is being evaluated at a hospital and she appears in good health.

Danville Police, FBI, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Secret Service arrested Kennedy. Police say Kennedy was arrested in the 4900 block of Wells Lane when someone saw his car at the house.

Police started searching for Emma Grace Kennedy, early Monday. An Amber Alert was issued 3:00am Monday. She was taken by her father Carl Ray Kennedy, who is a registered sex offender in North Carolina.

Carl Ray Kennedy is the accused abductor, a registered sex offender, and Emma's father according to Danville police. Investigators say Kennedy assaulted Emma's mother and is armed with a knife.

He has an Asheboro address on the North Carolina sex offender registry.

Carl Kennedy abducted Emma at a Danville gas station on the 4900 block of Riverside Drive Sunday night just before 8 p.m. according to police.

Police said Emma was in extreme danger after an Amber Alert was issued.

According to police, there was a possible sighting in the area of Seven Springs, NC Monday around 6:45 p.m. They may possibly be headed to Oak Island, NC.

CBS 17 reports Danville police traveled to Durham overnight Monday after reports of a man trying to sell a baby. Officers later determined that incident wasn't related to the Amber Alert.
