Bike Rider Killed In Davidson County Hit-And-Run: Highway Patrol

A man riding a bike died in a hit-and-run crash in Davidson County Tuesday morning just after 7 a.m.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, NC (WFMY) - A bike rider died in a hit-and-run accident just south of Thomasville Tuesday morning according to Davidson County officials.

Davidson EMS got the call about an accident at the intersection of Denton Road and Mount Zion Church Road at 7:11 a.m.

Highway Patrol confirmed the accident involved a vehicle and a bicycle. The man riding the bike was identified as Eric Christopher Dickerson. The early stages of the investigation show Dickerson, 38, was going north on Denton Road when he was hit by an unknown vehicle, possibly a 2004 GMC Sierra truck, also heading north. The driver in the vehicle left the scene and Dickerson, of Thomasville, died.

Highway Patrol says the accident happened between 11 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday. They responded at 7:16 a.m.
