SURRY COUNTY, NC (WFMY) - Thursday morning, a body was found in the woods off NC Highway 89 in Surry County around 7:30 a.m. After locating the body, The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was contacted to help in the investigation.
The Surry County Sheriff's Office says there may be a tie to this case to that of missing man Allen Leon Binns Sr., 38. Binns went missing after a car accident on Hwy 89 near the Palomino Ranch in Lowgap on June 16.
According to Surry County EMS Director John Shelton, the body will be sent to the North Carolina Baptist Medical Center for an autopsy and to confirm the identification.
When identification is confirmed and family members are informed, further information on the body will be released.
