WALNUT COVE, N.C. — A water leak has prompted the town of Walnut Cove to issue a boil water advisory Wednesday morning for all water used for human consumption.

The town says people are experiencing low pressure and outages due to a leak in the system. The advisory is for 24 hours. Periods of low or no pressure in the system can increase the potential for back siphonage and bacteria getting into the system.

All water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation should be boiled for one minute to kill any disease-causing organisms in the water.
