ASHEBORO, N.C. — Asheboro Police have arrested two people in connection to a murder.

It all started around 9:00 p.m. Sunday when police responded to Lakeview Road in reference to a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. 25-year-old Jermaine Kenneth Marlin, Jr. was transported to Randolph Health where he later died.

During this investigation, officers gathered information about possible suspects and an address on Lansdown Road.

Police were notified that two cars possibly connected to the shooting left the address - that's when police initiated two separate traffic stops.

One of the cars stopped for officers, but the other car did not, which led to a chase. Several minutes later, the driver of the car jumped from the moving vehicle and ran inside a house on Cascade Road.

The suspect vehicle hit a police department vehicle and came to a stop.

After a brief standoff with police, the man who ran away was arrested. Police have identified him as 21-year-old Marques Rashaan Baldwin. At this time, he has been charged with First Degree Murder for the death of Jermaine Kenneth Marlin Jr.

The driver of the car who stopped is identified as 21-year-old Ervin Tyrel Blankenship. He is charged with Felony Accessory After the Fact.

Police are still investigating.
