Chuck E Cheese's Gets In On Pay Your Age Day

Chuck E. Cheese's did not quite see the success that Build-A-bear had, it certainly received a number of extra visitors.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After the huge turn out for Build-A-Bear's pay-your-age day, another kid-friendly company looked to bring in customers with a similar plan. In a Facebook post on Thursday, Chuck E. Cheese's said parents can pay their child's age to get 30 minutes of "All You Can Play" time.

While Chuck E. Cheese's did not quite see the success that Build-A-Bear had, it certainly received a number of extra visitors. The company said it wanted to give kids a reason to smile if they didn't get a bear during the frenzy over the Build-A-Bear special sale.

At the Chuck E. Cheese's at the Friendly Center in Greensboro, some kids were having lots of fun.

Jennifer Unger and her daughter Tessa said they were late to join a line at a Georgia Build-a-bear, so they welcomed the deal.

"We got there like 3 O'clock but the lines were already closed and then by chance we were going to be here and I saw the article and was like 'fine' that makes up for it and so we are here," said Unger

Some retail experts say the company just wanted to be a part of a great marketing idea.

"Chuck E. Cheese's capitalizing on what Build-A-Bear did it's because Build-a-Bear got a lot of advertising from this through news channels and newspapers, advertising they can't buy," said Andy Ellen, North Carolina Retail Merchants Association.

Ellen went on to say that the financial impact of the build-a-bear sale could lead to more deals just like it from retailers but with better organization and inventory.
