6 Danville Police Officers Honored For Saving Lives During Tropical Storm Michael

Six Danville Police Officers received life-saving awards while being honored for their self-less actions during the Tropical Storm Michael on October 11, 2018.

DANVILLE, Va. — They risked their lives to save others during Tropical Storm Michael.

Six Danville Police Officers received life-saving awards while being honored for their self-less actions during the Tropical Storm Michael on October 11, 2018. Tropical Storm Michael resulted in lots of flash flooding.

Chief Scott Booth honored Major Timothy Jones, Lt. David Whitley, Cpl. John Dixon, Cpl. Christopher Morris, Officer Jonathan Masi and Officer Charles Willard with awards. Chief Booth said the officers saved people trapped in their vehicles during the storm.

Chief Booth said, “While some people probably hunkered down in their homes and their offices and did the safe thing, I had many officers-many that we aren’t recognizing here tonight-that immediately ran out…and they literally dove in and they saved lives here.”
