Decarlo Bennett Makes First Appearance

The man police say murdered Sherri Jackson had his first day in court.

Greensboro, NC -- Decarlo Bennett was in court Friday afternoon to face charges in Sherri Jackson's murderA judge read Bennett his first-degree murder charges through a video monitor and appointed an attorney. She refused to let Bennett out of jail on bond.Police arrested him last night, in the town of Wake Forest, but haven't said why he was there. Meanwhile, Sherri Jackson's parents tell us the arrest gives them some relief, but they also feel their trust was betrayed. "I've seen him several times, talked with him at length and was hoping that he was going to be just right for her," said Sherri's father, McArthur Jackson.WFMY did a background search on Decarlo Bennett. Most of his violations were traffic related. Police charged him with assault about a month before Sherri Jackson disappeared. The incident happened at Jackson's apartment on October 31.
