Deputies: Missing Triad Teacher Went Boating After Welfare Check

Search teams are looking for 23-year-old Krishawn Noble -- a first-year teacher at East Forsyth Middle School -- last seen renting a paddle boat at the lake around noon Thursday.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Water response teams and K9 units started scanning Kernersville Lake Park early Friday morning, in day two of their search for a missing Triad teacher who disappeared after a welfare check.

They are looking for 23-year-old Krishawn Noble -- a first-year teacher at East Forsyth Middle School -- last seen renting a paddle board at the lake around noon Thursday.

Someone reported seeing an empty boat on the water, and when deputies arrived, they found Noble's wallet and water cooler in the boat and his car in the parking lot.

Major D.L. Carter says they matched the wallet ID and license plate to Noble, realizing he was the same man they had done a welfare check on just hours earlier.

Carter says deputies conducted the welfare check after receiving a call from school officials saying Noble had missed two teacher work days.

Carter says Noble had been sleeping and said he was fine. Noble did not provide an explanation for why he wasn't at work.

Search teams from across North Carolina are using water cadaver dogs and sonar equipment to scan the lake. Deputies are calling the search a "missing persons case."
