Fort Bragg is scheduled to begin construction next month on a 4.5 million dollar fence that will surround the area where people live and work. The eight-foot-high barbed-wire fence will run 25 miles. Colonel Gregory Bean says the fence has been discussed for a while, but the need for it became apparent after terrorist attacks on September Eleventh, 2001. The fence is part of a two-year, 28 million dollar construction program to improve security on the Army post. The program includes changing how vehicles are allowed onto base.
