Friend of High Point Student: 'Anything I Do It's Going To Be For Her'

HIGH POINT, NC -- Walking around campus you can feel a sense of sadness and grief at High Point Central High School.

A student was hit and killed in a car accident this past weekend, while trying to help someone else.

17-year-old Tesla Hill was with some friends driving along I-40 in Raleigh on their way back home to High Point when the accident happened.

Police say Tesla’s boyfriend suffered a seizure as he was driving.

The three others got out on to the car to help.

That's when police say another car hit them, going about 60 mph.

Her two friends are in critical condition.

Hill was killed on impact.

She was a senior at High Point Central High School, a member of the JROTC, and she played the flute for the school band.

Hill’s friends say they still can’t believe she’s gone.

“I feel like half of my body just shut down,” said Denasia Jones.

“At first I didn't believe it,” said Kayla West. “I was really confused like what do you mean? I just seen her and talk to her.”

Band director Dustin Jennings says it will be tough for the group to go on without one of their most popular members.

“The band is big organism,” said Jennings. “If one part of an organism is broken or cut off, it hurts.”

“For me, anyone in the band is instantly family,” said West. “That's exactly what we are. We are nothing but a big, fun, dysfunctional family.”

Her friends say the fact that Hill died helping someone else is a testament to her character.

“She put someone else's life literally above her own,” said West. “That just shows how she is helpful and she is kind. Honestly, a great friend.”

Hill might be gone but her friends say she'll never be forgotten.

“Life is short. You can leave at any point in time without even knowing that you're about to leave. You just have to do everything to your fullest potential,” said Aliyah Bridges. “Now I'm going to give everything my all. Anything I do it's going to be for her.”

The school's band is planning to honor Hill's life on senior night later this month.

They'll be playing in her honor that night and they've added some of her favorite songs to the set list.

The other two victims in the crash were transported to WakeMed in critical condition.

The driver of the car that hit them is not currently facing any charges and was not injured in the crash.
