WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- In the next couple weeks, the twin-cities will be taken over by people on two wheels!

The city is hosting the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic, a professional cycling event -- and they have lots of events planned for people whether you're a cyclist or not. Bill Oakes, a member of the organizing committee, joins Lauren Melvin this morning to talk about what's in store!

Organizers say the Cycling Classic will be for Winston-Salem. The Winston-Salem Cycling Classic is a two-day professional cycling event. It consists of UCI 1.1 (ME), UCI 1.2 (WE) road races, USA Cycling NCC/USA Crit Series Criterium races (ME, WE) and a full schedule of USA Cycling sanctioned amateur racing. It attracts some of the top athletes in the sport.

Putting on an event of this magnitude will take lots of manpower and they still need volunteers! If you'd like to help, click here.

There will also be an event all week leading up to the classic for people who may not be cycling fans with an event called Gears and Guitars. From May 25th through May 30th, nightly concerts will take place featuring a variety of different musical genres. Show venues will vary each night between downtown locations and Bailey Park in the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter.

And there are some pretty big name acts coming to town.
