GREENSBORO, N.C. -- How strong is your beard game? It's a good question that's getting a lot of likes and shares on Facebook.

Greensboro native Mike McMillan started the Beard Game Matters Facebook Group because he wanted to have a place for men to share beard photos and beard grooming tips.

What started as a small forum quickly grew to more than 584,000 members in two weeks!

WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain and Meghann Mollerus talked with McMillan live on the Good Morning Show. He says he's stunned by the success!

"I can't even put it in words, to be honest with you. It went from a mere 3,000 people in a week to currently right now it's 755,000 members. What more can you say about that," said McMillan.

McMillan says both men and women are behind the hundreds of thousands of likes and shares.

"It's men who are growing beards and it's the women who like them. If you notice, there's a tremendous beard movement. A lot of guys are really wearing them and they're wearing them full so they wanted to take this opportunity to display their beard. And just as many beard fans exist so it went viral in a week."

We asked you on Facebook your thoughts and here's a look at what some of you had to say:

Mickie Cox says, "Yes, but keep it clean and maintained!"

Fran Johnson-Jamison writes, "Yes! However, they must be well maintained. My son-in-law has a very full, thick and clean beard. He keeps it nice with regular visits to his barber for his beard and shaved head."

And Rhonda Williams says, "Yay!.. Hubby has had a beard as long as I've known him. Have never seen him without it. Wouldn't want it any other way!"
