Burlington Fire Department Accepting Applications For 5th Citizen's Fire Academy

Participants can expect to learn about the suppression, training, and the fire & life safety division. If accepted into the academy, you will also learn how to use the "jaws-of-life", ride in the bucket of the ladder truck, drive the fire engine, and join a fire crew for a fire house meal.

BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Burlington Fire Department is currently accepting applications for its 5th Citizen's Fire Academy.

It's a 7-week program designed to teach the public about the day-to-day responsibilities of a firefighter.

Participants can expect to learn about the suppression, training, and the fire & life safety division.

If accepted into the academy, you will also learn how to use the "jaws-of-life", ride in the bucket of the ladder truck, drive the fire engine, and join a fire crew for a fire house meal.

The Citizen's Fire Academy will begin on September 6, 2018 and end on October 18th, 2018.

Classes will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The last day to apply to the fire program is on Friday, August 17th, 2018.
