Local Ministry Give Dads Fathering Skills

Millions of children across the country are currently living with a father in the home.

JAMESTOWN, N.C. — According the the U.S. Census Bureau, 19.7 million children don't have a father in the home. 

Research shows when a child is raised in a father-absent home, he or she is affected in the following ways.

  • 4 times great risk of poverty
  • 7 times more likely to become pregnant as a teen
  • More likely to have behavioral problems
  • More likely to face abuse and neglect
  • 2 times greater risk of infant mortality
  • More likely to drop out of high school

A Triad ministry is trying to change these statistics. Vessels of Mercy Outreach Ministry in connection with the National Fatherhood Initiative are putting on their 24/7 Dad Program. Their motivation is to bring fathers the tools needed to raise healthy children. 

The 24/7 Dad Program is happening Saturday, January 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will be at Griffin Recreation Center, 5301 Hilltop Road, Jamestown, North Carolina, 27828.

Registration is free and Vessels of Mercy Outreach Ministry is providing transportation if needed.
