GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Here's your chance to get your child on the football field with former NFL players. The "Football Fundamentalz 52" camps return to Greensboro, Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
This week, former professional athletes will help take your child's football and cheer skills to the next level. The best part is that this program also prepares kids for success off the field.
Coach Earl Rose runs the program. Rose is from Greensboro, played football at Grimsley High School, went on to play at App State and then with an arena football team.
Rose says he comes back home every year to teach young athletes about football, cheerleading and valuable life lessons.
"Our focus this year is STEM education, so we're going to put a huge focus on that. What we're doing now is building portfolios for kids to get good grades and maintain those good grades throughout the school year," said Rose.
The on field experience is just as important.
"We are still going to focus on fundamentals. We bring back former NFL players, Dell Seagraves, Reuben Davis, Lamont Burns and those guys who went to local high schools who went onto the NFL. DaMario Pressley who we all know won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints," said Rose.
There's also a cheer camp for kids and this year it features a renown dancer.
"We have a renown choreographer coming in from Salt Lake City, Utah that's going to teach the girls cheer, dance, jumps and the fundamentals of cheer," said Coach Anita Wood-Johnson who's the program's Cheer Director.
The "Football Fundamentalz 52" Camps start Tuesday, June 19 and end on Friday, June 22 inside at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Camps are from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every night for kids ages 6 to 17-years-old. It's $50 and it is not too late to sign up. Learn more about the Football Fundamentalz 52 camps by clicking here.
