HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Don't be surprised if you see Captain James T. Kirk or Luke Skywalker walking down Main Street in High Point this weekend.

Sci-Fi fans from all over the world are heading to the city for the annual ConGregate convention. The 5th annual ConGregate Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention includes panel discussions about speculative fiction, games, concerts and cosplay workshops and even a costume contest!

"It's a lot of fun to get involved and be part of the experience," said Nancy Knight. "To really delve into the characters that you love so much on the pages and on the screen and be apart of it and share that with other fans."

Knight who helps organize the convention says the annual gathering gets people up close and personal with some of the biggest names in science fiction.

Jane Lindskold and Charles E. Gannon are the guests of honor for this year's ConGregate. The award-winning authors have extensive careers writing fiction novels.

"The authors will be talking about their books," said Knight. "It's a lot of one on one time, so there's panel discussions where you can ask questions. You can meet and greet with them, you can get autographs, you can talk about their books, you can talk about what's coming up next, you can share ideas and fan theories of what should have happened or what could have happened."

Nearly five hundred people attend the convention from all over and this year there are registrants from as far away as Ireland. Families who bring their children will enjoy the kid's track where this year's theme is the Incredible's.
