"During my first 100 days, I have increased community outreach events by visiting over 8 schools, I visited over 20 different businesses, churches and other organizations."

The Sheriff says he's been out on patrols to better understand the problems on our streets, and the daily trials his deputies face.

"We’re on patrol, we stop traffic violators, we’re going in on drug raids – it gives us the opportunity to understand the dialogue and experience the one- on-one personal effects our deputies are experiencing."

Sheriff Rogers says he's going to start a round table discussion to better understand the needs in our community. He says this advisory group will be 'very valuable in advancing our community policing mission as well as improving public safety related communications.'

"I believe everyone deserves the right to be safe and should feel safe in Guilford County, I would like to take this opportunity to continue to plan and talk about the fact of a 'Sheriffs Advisory Roundtable.'"

The Sheriff's Office said members will be announced soon, but the invitation is open to community, religious leaders, law enforcement agencies and government officials.
