Gun Found In Book Bag Of 17-Year-Old North Forsyth High School Student: Police

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, a .25 caliber handgun was found in the book bag of 17-year-old Taevon Jolly.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem Police Department School Resource Unit and North Forsyth High School staff found a gun on campus Friday after receiving an anonymous tip. 

According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, a .25 caliber handgun was found in the book bag of 17-year-old Taevon Jolly. 

Police say the gun was never displayed and investigations have not indicated a known threat to any student or staff.

Jolly was charged with Possession of Firearm on School Property and issued a Written Promise of release. His preliminary court date is set for October 10th, 2019.

Police say the gun found has no relation to another gun that was found on school property Friday at Carver High School. 

No other details of the investigation are being released at this time.
