Here's The Status Of Your Trash Pickup, Other City Services Affected By the Winter Storm

Some Triad cities have pushed back trash pickup and other services due to the icy conditions of the roads.

Greensboro Trash Pick-Up

As winter storm cleanup efforts continue, the following services have been changed for Tuesday, December 11:

  • This week's trash and recycling collections will be rescheduled as follows. Please note, this pickup schedule may be modified based on conditions in the field. If your can is not serviced on the following schedule, please leave it at the curb until Field Operations can get to it:

- Monday routes will be picked up Wednesday, December 12

- Tuesday routes will be picked up Thursday, December 13

- Thursday routes will be picked up Friday, December 14

- Friday routes will be picked up Saturday, December 15.

The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station will open at 9 am, Tuesday, December 11.

City of Greensboro Offices

City of Greensboro offices will operate on a two-hour delay, opening at 10 am on Tuesday, December 11. The operational status of City parks, libraries, recreation centers, and other services will be evaluated and delayed openings or extended closures will be announced, if needed.

City of Winston-Salem

Due to the hazardous conditions on residential streets all garbage, recycling and yard-waste collections have been canceled for Wednesday, Dec. 12. Collections will resume on Thursday, Dec. 13. Residents are instructed to set out all carts regardless of their usual collection day. Sanitation crews will work until all carts have been collected.

On Wednesday, Dec. 12, Hanes Mill Landfill resumes regular hours of operation (7 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). The other three solid waste facilities will open at 9 a.m.:

• Old Salisbury Road Construction & Demolition

• Overdale Road Yard-waste Facility

• Forum 52 Yard-waste Facility

Thursday, Dec. 13, all solid waste facilities operated by Winston-Salem Forsyth County Utilities will resume regular hours.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Overdale Road Yard-waste Facility will be open regular hours (8:00 a.m. - Noon) on Saturday, December 15.

Hanes Mill Road Landfill has extended hours on Saturday, opening at 8:00 a.m. and closing at 4:00 p.m.

City of High Point

City of High Point Facilities Closed Monday, December 10.

All City of High Point facilities will be closed Monday.

Including City Hall, Northpoint, Recreation Center, Material Recovery Facility, Kersey Valley Landfill, Ingleside Compost Facility, and the High Point Transit System.

Essential services such as police, fire, 911, and public services will continue to work around the clock during the winter storm.

City of Burlington

Administrative Office Closed:

City of Burlington administrative offices will be closed 12/10/18 to the public and for all non-essential employees due to winter weather.

Recreation and Parks:

Due to the inclement weather conditions, for the safety of our families and staff, Fundays and Exploration Station will not operate 12/10/18. City of Burlington Athletics programing is also cancelled for 12/10/18. Maynard Aquatic Center will be closed on 12/10/18.

Sanitation:

Monday (12/10) sanitation/recycling routes will be collected on Tuesday (12/11) and Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday (12/12). Stay tuned if any other modifications are made.

Link Transit:

Due to winter weather and unsafe road conditions, Link Transit will not operate on 12/10/18.

Burlington Police Department:

Burlington Police report one crash with injuries on N. Church St. and St. John St. There have been over 60 weather-related motorists assist calls and counting. If you encounter a stop light that is out, remember to treat it as a four-way stop.

Town of Yanceyville

Trash Pick-up: The Town of Yanceyville will not pick up residential trash on Tuesday, December 11th due to weather conditions. Residential trash will be picked up on Wednesday, December 12th.

Mail

The Postal Service is reminding customers to keep curbside mailboxes and walkways free of snow and ice for safe delivery.

For curbside delivery, snow must be cleared to the curb for a least six feet on both sides of the mailbox so the carriers' cars may approach and leave without backing up.

Delivery that is unable to take place safely due to snow or ice will be attempted again the next day.
