WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One lane of I-40 in Winston-Salem was closed after a fuel spill from a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning.
The scene was reported clear around 7:30.
The Winston-Salem Fire Department said the right lane of I-40 westbound was closed near the Thomasville Road Exit (Exit 195). Police say the tractor-trailer's fuel tank was ruptured when it hit a discarded tire in the road.
The department tweeted out a photo around 5:40.
Winston-Salem Police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol were at the scene of the wreck. HAZMAT crews helped with the cleanup effort.
