Local Charity Holds Food Giveaway For Federal Workers Impacted By Shutdown

The food giveaway takes place at the Out Of Garden Project's warehouse at 300 N Carolina Highway 68 in Greensboro.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Some generous people in the Triad are making sure people have food during the partial government shutdown that has stretched into three weeks.

The Out of the Garden Project will be holding a free Fresh Mobile Market Wednesday. Organizers say they are targeting folks who have been impacted by the shutdown.

The food giveaway takes place at the Out Of Garden Project's warehouse at 300 N Carolina Highway 68 in Greensboro.

The event takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m on Wednesday.

As of this week, the shutdown has become the longest in U.S. history.

Last Friday, more than 800,000 Federal workers across the country did not get a paycheck.

Organizers of the 'Out of the Garden Project' say the event is open to anyone who has experienced a job loss within the last 3 months.

They are also accepting donations to assist with their efforts.
