GREENSBORO, N.C. -- If it’s one thing we get heated about, it’s our BBQ and we’re not even talking about eastern vs. western.
In this case, we’re talking about Brooklyn Barbecue vs. every state that serves barbecue in the south.
Especially, North Carolina BBQ fans that are clapping back after Munchies tweeted out a photo on Twitter that read, “Why is Brooklyn barbecue taking over the world?”
The picture shows a little meat, two pickles, and two rolls. It really is a sad picture for barbecue fans.
It erupted a firestorm among Twitter users with lots of tweets about NC barbecue.
North Carolina Senate leader Phil Berger from Rockingham County even got involved, issuing a press release calling for 'a bipartisan defense of our state's finest food.'
“Everyone makes mistakes, and it’s time for the writers at Munchies to admit theirs: ‘Brooklyn barbecue’ – whatever that is – won’t be taking over North Carolina anytime soon,” said Berger. “This is a fact on which we can all agree, and I call on Gov. Cooper and Speaker Moore to join me in mounting a bipartisan defense of our state’s finest food.”
The City of Greensboro Twitter account also got in a dig: "It's almost like that barbecue has no value."
The NC Museum of History tweeted: "Yall have never stepped foot in the state of North Carolina.
"What are those?!"
