FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) - A North Carolina National Guard member is in custody at Fort Bragg, officials said. He is accused of trying to steal weapons.

Officials said 23-year-old Cameron Reese Bray turned himself in around 6:20 p.m. Thursday. He is being transported to the Cumberland County jail.

Fort Bragg officials said in a release earlier Thursday that Bray was accused of trying to steal M4 rifles. He was caught in the process and ran away into the woods, officials said.

The National Guard said Bray is with the North Carolina Army National Guard's 732nd Forward Support Company. The unit was at Fort Bragg for annual training.

Bray has a criminal history, the release said.
