The power outage totals in North Carolina surpassed the 800,000 mark Saturday morning, according to state officials.
Around 8:30 a.m., NC Emergency Management reported 814,351 statewide power outages.
That number was nearly double the 10 a.m. total on Friday, when there were 485,143 statewide outages.
Outages started popping up when heavy rain and strong winds from Florence arrived later in the day Thursday. The highest numbers were in New Hanover County, which hosts Wilmington.
The state says the majority of outages are in eastern North Carolina.
Here are some of the power outage numbers from the state's coastal counties as of 8:45 a.m., per Duke Energy:
- New Hanover County - 113,312
- Carteret County - 24,470
- Robeson County - 21,538
- Moore County - 24,833
- Johnston County - 25,519
- Wake County - 29,962
