Randolph Co. Farmer Brings Tractor To Plow Greensboro Neighborhoods

A veteran, who's also a farmer, decided to drive his tractor to Greensboro after seeing some neighbors still stuck in snow. He came in from southeast Randolph County which isn't a quick trip.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The scrapes and crunch of snow are music to one Greensboro neighborhood's ears.

"I got nothing better to do," explains Bill Krise. "I may as well come on out and give people a hand."

The Randolph County veteran, who's also a farmer decided to haul his tractor to Greensboro after seeing some neighborhoods still stuck in snow. He came in from the Erect area close to Seagrove.

"Typical redneck stuff," he says. "Just a little 33 horse work master new hauling tractor with a frontend loader and a standard box blade to push snow around."

Yeah, typical stuff. But an ordinary day for Bill, was extraordinary for people who live there.

"I think it’s just a wonderful thing that he came to help dig us out of the snow," says Pamela Brown. "Because we really need to go to work and we could not get out. We’re so thankful."

Gratitude, from a place that's beared Mother Nature's wrath time and time again. Folks in this neighborhood by Peeler Elementary School are still picking up the pieces after April's tornado and the snow isn't helping.

"It’s pretty cool," Krise says. "I just helped this fellow here out and I think he was pretty appreciative. Little lady gave me a hug. That was kind of nice."

But even if he can't melt the snow, Krise's easy decision to plow this neighborhood might melt your heart - helping people he doesn't even know.

"I don’t have to," Bill explains. "If you helped your neighbors more, you’d probably have a better community."
