BROWNS SUMMIT, NC (WFMY) - Authorities are investigating after skeletal remains were found in Browns Summit Wednesday morning.

Colonel Randy Powers with the Guilford County Sheriff's Office confirms the remains were found in a field by the 3700 block of Autumn Forest Drive. The body was found around 9:30 a.m. by people cutting trees.

Wednesday afternoon, the body hadn't yet been identified. Powers estimated the body had been there for several months. CSI was investigating.

'It could be natural causes," Powers said of the death. "It could be an accidental overdose. It could be any number of things. That's why we're afraid to call it at this particular point."
