HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Students have staged protests at multiple Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools Friday.
A peaceful sit-in occurred inside Mallard Creek High Friday with over half the school participating, students say. Students chanted 'Black lives matter' for 15 minutes.
A student that helped start the protest told NBC Charlotte that the school administration supported her.
Mallard Creek High officials said students are permitted to protest but walk-outs are considered a code violation.

Hopewell High School students began to protest Friday morning where food was thrown, resulting in police being called.
Students at Hopewell who wanted to protest were separated from those who did not and were taken to a separate part of campus. They were said to be protesting peacefully.
An announcement was made that students were making their way back to class and would be marked present and welcomed by teachers.
