Trader Joe's Set To Open Greensboro Store This Month; How Bad Will Traffic Be?

The grocery store will be located at 3721 Battleground Avenue in the Brassfield Shopping Center.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro's first Trader Joe's hasn't even opened, but it is already having an economic impact on the Brassfield Shopping Center.

An employee at a nearby Chick-fil-A restaurant told us they received a lot more customers and sales while Trader Joe's is conducting in-person interviews in September.

"We got to see a lot of great people yesterday and we even saw a huge sales spike and the grocery store is not even open yet, it’s amazing," he said.

The new Trader Joe's location is officially opening up in Greensboro this month at the Brassfield Shopping Center on Battleground Avenue.

So could the new store seriously impact traffic? Greensboro city officials say it's not likely.

They say they did a feasibility study about 10 years ago on Battleground Avenue. They found that, among other things, the avenue will eventually need 6 lanes and have started some improvements.

The two intersections by this Trader Joe's location have already been renovated. And the state is designing a plan to add those extra lanes.

There's no timeline on that change but in the meantime, city officials believe the Brassfield Shopping Center has enough parking and space to accommodate the traffic that Trader Joe's will bring in.
