PLEASANT GARDEN, N.C. — Two men escaped injury after a train crashed into a tractor-trailer Tuesday morning in Guilford County.
The crash happened in Pleasant Garden near the intersection of Hunt Road and Walter Wright Road just before 8:30, a trooper with NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) says.
David Wayne Morgan, of Salisbury, was driving a 1997 Ford tractor-trailer that was hauling insulation materials from Colonial Materials, which is located right next to the train tracks.
Jason Queen, of Greensboro, was operating a freight train for Norfolk Southern, traveling south. Morgan failed to yield to the train and it collided with the rear of the trailer, NCSHP reported. The collision caused the tractor-trailer to land on the shoulder of the entrance to the business and partially on Hunt Road.
Morgan was charged with making an unsafe movement. The scene was cleared just after 10 a.m.
