WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The North Carolina Triad field hockey club and their fans rushed the field this weekend after they played for 51 hours straight.

Yes, 51 hours, part of it was in the rain! Their coach, Melissa Martin, looked up the longest field hockey game.

According to the Guinness World Records, that was set back in 2013 by a men's field hockey team in the UK.
They only played 40 hours! These girls got them by 11 hours.
Martin asked the ladies if they were up for the challenge and no one hesitated.

"I want my name in the book," Mati Maltba said. "It's so cool that you can say I hold a world record for something I like doing."

It's not official yet, Guinness still has to approve it. The paper work is due Wednesday. In 2 years, they say they're going for 100 hours straight! More than 2 dozen people played in the game.

About 100 volunteers came out to help the game go off without a hitch.
